On July 21, 2009 at 12:00 am, after months and months of waiting Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the movie, opened in theatres. Hundreds of “muggles” flocked to cinemas all over the country. Some dressed as wizards, others maybe in their pajamas. After the timeless WB trademark zoomed through the clouds, Harry is sitting in a gloomy London subway café, reading The Daily Prophet. The waitress says something about Harry Potter and moving pictures. Harry looks back at her, and she says, “I’m off at eleven.” An odd starting scene followed by an even stranger conversation between Harry and Dumbledore. This conversation involves the “rather pretty” waitress, as stated by Dumbledore. It also takes place in the foreground of a rather risqué billboard. But this is just one of the many awkward moments between Dumbledore and Harry. Those of you who have read the books know that relationships are a main theme in The Half-Blood Prince.
