Don’t look now, but the football team may be on its greatest winning streak of all-time. Over the last three years, the team has won its last nine games. Last year, the Cougars finished with a perfect 6-0 record under the guidance of captain and quarterback, Rob P. This year a new team, primarily composed of 8th graders, takes the field. Led by captains Greg B., Elliot F. and Bernard P., the team has compiled a 3-0 record so far. “The team works very hard every day of football season,” says Coach Weller. “We practice in every kind of weather, and never take a day off. We have developed an attitude that we win together and we lose together, and that the only speed on the football field is 150%. The players and the 8th graders, in particular, do a good job picking one another up when we need to work hard, instead of giving up or complaining.” Mr. Weller runs his team old school, using primarily a running game on offense.
