Most people think they know everything there is to know about Dr. Kleinman, but they probably don’t. I interviewed him to better understand what is behind that gentle, caring smile.
When Dr. Kleinman was young, he was sure he was going to be a professional baseball player. He went to a Beatles concert in Shea Stadium and said that was the most exciting moment of his life. The number one thing on his bucket list is to throw n pitch for the Mets. He heart thrives for that felling of running all the bases and having everyone cheering, “Randy! Randy! Randy!” When he retires (which he might never do), he plans to go to Australia and write books. He wishes for the best for his family and says, “My life’s ambition is to have the happiest family–and every one of my students is a part of my family.”
All of his working life ,he has been a part of the students lives. He says, ”What makes me keep going is the look on a student’s face when they learn something new.” Whether it was being a teacher or a principal, it didn’t matter to him. All he would change about his life is the amount and the color of hair he has. As you can see, there is always something going on in his life, whether it is getting sucked into a good book or exercising.
